Overlapping Stackup
In overlapping mode, signal layers can exist in the same location (i.e.,overlap one another) on the Z-axis. Each layer also extends over the entire design space in the X-axis and Y-axis.
Dielectric layers must be contiguous (i.e., they cannot overlap nor have space between one another). Signal layers can reside at any elevation and can overlap dielectric and other signal layers. Via layers connect two signal layers. For rules on how layers may overlap, see Elevation in Overlapping Stackups.
When a new layer is created, the window automatically offers the same type of layer highlighted in the Grid Control pane.
