Cropping and Deleting in ECAD Xplorer

ECAD Xplorer offers many ways to remove unwanted objects in a design. This can be done through cropping, layer removal, cell instance deletion, and removing islands.

To crop a design:

  1. From the Layout tab, click Crop.
  2. From the main window, draw a bounding box around the area you want to keep.
  3. Press Enter or right-click in the main view and select Finish.

To delete a layer:

  1. From the Layers window, right-click on a layer.
  2. Select Remove.
  3. From the confirmation window, click Yes. The layer and everything on it is deleted.

Click the Project Manager window to delete cell instances. This window contains two tabs, Cells and Hierarchical. The Cells tab lists all the cells in the design. The Hierarchical tab shows a hierarchical view of the instances of these cells in the design.

To delete all instances of a cell, right-click cell you wish to delete in the Cells tab and select Delete.

To delete a specific cell instance or other object:

  1. To ignore the hierarchy while selecting objects, click Contextless on the Layout tab.
  2. Select the unwanted object in the design window.
  3. Right-click the object and select Erase (Delete). Also click Delete on the Layout tab or press Delete on your keyboard.
