Automated CPM Chip Connection And Placement
CPM (Chip Package Model) components can be created by importing special SPICE files that contain additional information that is encoded using the CPP (Chip Package Protocol).
- The CPP is a set of statements specifying the location, the net information, and the SPICE node name for each package pin (the landing pad of flip-chip bumps or the chip landing pad of bonding-wires).
- The CPP is embedded within a SPICE compatible file header as comments.
When these models are created, they behave like SPICE models and have regular symbols in the schematic, but the corresponding footprints in the layout show the positions of the pins specified in the CPP header.
To place a CPM component, open the Component Libraries window, click the Symbols area, and click Import Models. From the area, select the CPM icon to open the Import Components window. After that, follow the procedure for importing Spice components (See SPICE Library Support).
