Restrict Length of Elements
Selecting the Restrict Length of Elements check box enables you to set the stopping criteria for seed refinement. When the longest edge of a tetrahedral element under the specified value of Maximum Length of the Tetrahedral Element is reached, seed refinement stops.
The following example of a cube 1000 mm in size and material
vacuum illustrates seed refinement when it is specified by a value of
the Maximum Length of The Tetrahedral Element
as the stopping criteria. The cube has a wave port assigned on one of
its faces and the adaptive frequency is 0.25 GHz.
First
the design is solved with no seed refinement. The mesh plot on the cube
after convergence is shown in the following figures.
A
plane is drawn at the center of the cube and the normal to the plane
is along the Z axis. Using the Clipping view feature, the cube
is virtually clipped along the normal. After seed refinement, the mesh
plot of the cube along the normal is shown in the following figure.
