Deployment Overview

A Granta MI Pro deployment consists of:

  • An application server running the core materials data management software. This includes Granta MI server software, services, web applications, and Windows client administration tools.

  • Materials data stored in a SQL database.

  • Desktop clients running Granta MI Materials Gateway, the client application that enables the materials data in Granta MI Pro to be accessed directly from within CAD and CAE applications.

In a Granta MI Pro deployment on Ansys Gateway powered by AWS, the data management software, database software (SQL Server Express), and the materials data are all installed on the virtual desktop.

Important:

  • Granta MI Pro does not provide any database backup capability, so you must ensure that MI Pro data stored on the local SQL Server instance on the virtual desktop is backed up regularly.

  • If the virtual desktop is deleted, all your MI Pro data will be permanently deleted.
