What's New

Autoscaling cluster workflows are now supported for Ansys Electronics Desktop, Fluent, and Mechanical. These workflows are documented in the Recommended Usage Guide.

The following packages are now available when creating an autoscaling cluster:

  • Ansys Electronics Desktop 2024 R1 AutoScaling Cluster
  • Ansys Fluids 2024 R1 AutoscalingCluster
  • Ansys Structures 2024 R1 AutoscalingCluster

To enable these workflows, the following packages are now available when creating a Linux virtual desktop as part of the cluster workflow configuration:

  • Slurm client. Required for the Ansys Fluids cluster workflow. Enables Slurm commands to be sent from the Linux virtual desktop to the head node of the autoscaling Slurm cluster.
  • Ansys HPC Platform Services (HPS). Required for the Ansys Electronics Desktop and Ansys Mechanical cluster workflows. This package includes Ansys HPC Platform Core Services and the Autoscaling Service. When selected, the Slurm client application is also added automatically.

Resolved Issues

  • You are no longer required to create a new Ansys ID to set up or sign in to Ansys Access on Microsoft Azure. (987430)
  • If the Express Setup wizard is reloaded, or closed and subsequently reopened, the entered Company Information is now being properly saved, and the Continue button works as it should. (969712)
  • When you create an availability zone in a region that is different than the region used when setting up Ansys Access on Microsoft Azure, the hardware table in resource creation wizards is updated much sooner with the availability zone's virtual machine sizes, pricing and quotas (5 to 10 minutes). (993582)
  • On the home page, when viewing project spaces that have a budget cap enabled, the Monthly Budget indicator now displays the used budget amount. (977321)
  • When creating a virtual desktop, the hardware table is now filtered to show only virtual machine sizes that support Hypervisor Generation 1, which is the generation supported by virtual desktops. This prevents the possibility of choosing a VM size that does not have Hypervisor Generation 1 support, which would cause virtual desktop creation to fail. (977782)
  • An issue with GPU drivers not getting correctly installed on virtual desktops has been resolved. (977975)
  • You can now successfully delete a newly created virtual desktop when it is in the 'Installing services' state. Previously, the deletion would get stuck, eventually resulting in a 'Failed state' error. (980576)
  • Azure NetApp Files storages created in the Autoscaling Cluster wizard are now getting mounted on Windows virtual desktops in the project space. (978180)
  • Azure NetApp Files storage is now supported for autoscaling clusters.
  • When creating an autoscaling cluster, existing storages have the Mount to autoscaling cluster toggle enabled by default, making cluster setup more efficient and ensuring that existing storages do not get overlooked. (969521)
  • Autoscaling clusters now restart successfully in a reasonable amount of time. (977662)
  • Issues with deleting an autoscaling cluster have been resolved. (966581)
  • Styling improvements have been made to the Autoscaling Cluster wizard, resulting in a better user experience. (981240)
  • As the Subscription page is not applicable for the beta release, it has been temporarily removed from the user menu. (817108)
