Fees and Billing

The Ansys Access on Microsoft Azure platform is deployed as a service that allows you to deploy Azure hardware in your own Azure account.

When you deploy Azure hardware using Ansys Access on Microsoft Azure, your invoice from Azure includes a line item for Azure hardware as well as a line item for utilizing the services of Ansys Access on Microsoft Azure.

The following fees are charged for using Ansys Access on Microsoft Azure:

  • One-time platform fee
  • Physical core hour usage

These fees do NOT include Azure hardware fees or any other fees that Azure charges for the infrastructure that is deployed via Ansys Access on Microsoft Azure (such as fees for data transfer and storage).

Fees and billing practices are described below.

One-Time Platform Fee

As of February 10, 2025, new subscribers must pay a one-time platform fee to use Ansys Access on Microsoft Azure.

If you are using a free trial of Ansys Access on Microsoft Azure, the one-time platform fee will be charged once the free trial period ends.

Note: If you subscribed to Ansys Access on Microsoft Azure before February 10, 2025, the platform fee does not apply to you.

Physical Core Hour Usage

Physical core hour usage refers to the physical cores used per hour when machines are deployed to Azure via Ansys Access on Microsoft Azure.

There is no charge for physical core hour usage during the free trial period. When the trial period ends, there continues to be no charge for core hour usage for one year past the trial end date. After that one-year period, you will start to be charged for physical core hour usage.

Note: Billing terms may vary if you receive a private offer from Ansys. For pricing inquiries, contact cloud-sales@ansys.com.

Example of how core hour billing works: If you were to deploy a Linux instance of Standard_NC8as_T4_v3, which has 8 physical cores and NVIDIA Tesla T4 GPU, and you were to run it for an hour, you would be charged the following at the sample prices indicated:

Item Price* Billing charge for one hour of usage
Azure hardware cost $0.75 per hour $0.75
Ansys Access on Microsoft Azure core hour usage $0.01 per core per hour $0.08

* Prices are for illustrative purposes only. For actual hardware pricing based on the region selected, refer to the Azure website. For actual core hour pricing, refer to the marketplace listing.

Note: If you subscribed to Ansys Access on Microsoft Azure before February 10, 2025, you are currently being billed for node hour usage. Ansys is working on a plan to transition such customers to core hour billing and will notify you when the transition is ready to take place.

Free Trials

All new subscribers receive a 30-day free trial of Ansys Access on Microsoft Azure.

The free trial starts once an administrator has completed the Ansys Access on Microsoft Azure setup and added their first location on the Administration > Locations page.

During the free trial period, you are not charged for using Ansys Access on Microsoft Azure. You only pay for the Azure hardware you use.

When the free trial period ends, the one-time platform fee will be charged automatically. There will continue to be no charge for physical core hour usage for one year past the trial end date. See Switching from Free to Paid Usage.

Switching from Free to Paid Usage

To ensure a seamless transition from a free trial to paid usage with no interruption in service, the one-time platform fee is charged automatically as soon as the trial ends (provided that you have not cancelled your subscription before the trial end date).

When the trial period ends, there continues to be no charge for physical core hour usage for one year past the trial end date. After that one-year period, you will start to be charged for physical core hour usage.

Note: Billing terms may vary if you receive a private offer from Ansys. For pricing inquiries, contact cloud-sales@ansys.com.

Azure Hardware Costs

Whether you are using Ansys Access on Microsoft Azure on a trial or paid basis, usage of Azure hardware has a separate cost that is billed to your Azure account.

There may also be other fees that Azure charges for the infrastructure that is deployed via Ansys Access on Microsoft Azure (such as fees for data transfer and storage).
