Azure Files Storage Account

When creating autoscaling clusters, you have the option of creating Azure storage volumes. Storages must be associated with an Azure files storage account. When a request is made to create a storage, the system checks to see if a storage account exists. If a storage account exists, the creation of the storage proceeds. Otherwise, a storage account is created.

Storage Account Creation

Ansys Access on Microsoft Azure creates one storage account per Resource Group per region (for example, the 'eastus' region).

When a storage account is set up, all subnets within the Resource Group for the specific region are added to the network configuration of the storage account.

Storage Account Behavior

When a request is made to create a new resource such as an Azure Files storage, virtual desktop, or cluster, the storage account associated with the Resource Group and region is updated (subnets are retrieved and then added to the network configuration of the storage account).

Storages are mounted on virtual desktops and clusters that share the same region as the storage account. Storages cannot be mounted on resources in different regions.

Recommendation for Successful Resource Connections

To ensure successful resource connections, it is recommended that users leverage locations within the same Resource Group.
