10.1. Creating the Table in Microsoft Word

When you create a table, you only need two rows, the header row and a row below it. Note that these two rows are not joined in the template. You then add the M2Doc fields.

To create a table, complete these steps.

  1. To make sure that the column formatting in the header row matches the column formatting in the rest of the table, create a table with two rows and then use Microsoft Word's "Split Table" feature to split the two rows of the table.

  2. Fill the header row with the column headings (text).

  3. Between the header row and the second row, add the opening field for a for loop.

  4. After the second table row, add the closing field for the for loop you created in step 1.

  5. In the second row, in each cell, add the fields for the elements that will be iterated.


    Note:  Blank lines between the table rows and the M2Doc expressions can lead to formatting errors in the output.
