15.1. Safety Management

User and Roles

Version 2021 R2 introduces an initial feature set to manage roles and users, participating in a safety project directly in medini using dedicated editing facilities. This enables to manage the project "Team". The new feature supports the definition of abstract roles and their assignment to users or groups of users. Roles can be used later during safety planning to plan activities in detail.

All members of the team, i.e. users and groups of users can be defined and managed. They can be either assigned directly to an activity or to a pre-defined role.

Timelines and Milestones

The timeline of the safety project can be planned using an arbitrary number of milestones, including optional project begin and end milestones. Milestones define either a fixed date given as ISO 8601 calender date or as ISO 8601 duration in relation to another milestone (offset). Milestones can be used later in safety planning as anchors for safety activities.

Safety Plan

Plans in general - and Safety Plans in particular - can be created anywhere in the safety project or project template. Plans can be broken down into Activities or Groups of Activities to plan and manage the work that needs to be done and the results that have to be achieved. Activities can be detailed with milestones, performers, work products and many more.

DSM App

2021 R2 comes with an additional app named "Digital Safety Manager (DSM)". This application is meant to support managing a large number of safety projects in an easy and handy way. The app is embedded into the medini application and available as early access (i.e. supporting just a few use cases), and it has to be activated first in the preferences. More features will be added and released with subsequent medini revisions.
