Obtaining Project and Input Files

Project files for all the Workbench test cases are available for download in .zip file format. Each project archive provides everything necessary for running a test, including geometries, material files, and Workbench databases. Use the links below to download the files.

Project File Release Schedule

The latest Workbench project files become available for download several weeks after each R1 and R2 release of the Ansys software.

If you click the download link for the latest project files, you might receive a message that the files are not yet available. If that happens, check back again later. Meanwhile, you can download the project files for the previous release at any time. (You'll find the download link below as well.) The download package for the previous release contains project files for all the test cases, except for the most recent ones added for the current release. And those earlier files are fully compatible with the latest version of your Ansys software.

How to Download and Run the Workbench Project Files

  1. Using the WB-VM Files - Current Release link below, download the VM2025R1_Mechanical.zip package containing the project files for the test cases in the Workbench Verification Manual. The package includes all project files except those for Additive. Due to the large size of the project files, the Additive files have their own download link.

If you receive a message that the project files are not yet available, you may download the package for the previous 2024 R2 release for the time being.

  2. Once downloaded, extract the contents of the .zip package to a folder of your choice. Select a project file and open it in Workbench. Project file names match the corresponding test case number in the Workbench Verification Manual. For example: To run the project file for test case VM-MECH-WB-100, select project file VM-MECH-WB-100.wbpz.

Note:  Some test cases contain multiple variations of the same test. For example, VM-WB-MECH-042 contains two scenarios—a fully submerged condition and a partially submerged condition. The project files for these kinds of test cases are configured for only one of the scenarios, usually the last one listed in the results table. To run the other variations, you must manually change the parameters of the test within the Ansys application.

If you are looking for a robust and automated way to run all Verification Manual test cases on your computer platform, consider the Ansys Verification and Testing Package (VTP). For information on this service, you may contact QA Services by email: ansys-qa-services@ansys.com.

Note:  If you wish to download an even earlier version of the project files, you can find download links in the earlier versions of the Workbench Verification Manual. Visit the Ansys Help website and click the Verification Manuals icon. Use the available dropdown menu to select which release you're interested in (Release 2022 R1, for example). Then click the link to the Ansys Workbench Verification Manual. Project files for that release are available on the downloads page.
