Adding file data

You can add files up to 500 MB in size in File Attributes, for example, documents, spreadsheets, text files, and PDFs. When you add file data, the text content is indexed to make it searchable.

The text in data files stored in File Attributes (for example, documents, spreadsheets, text files, and PDFs) is indexed to make it searchable when the database is first added to Granta MI, and again whenever file data is added or modified.

These common file types are indexed by default: .doc, .docx, .html, .key, .mbox, .msg, .ods, .odt, .odp, .pages, .pdf, .ppsm, .ppsx, .pptm, .ppt, .pptx, .txt, .rtf, .xls, .xlsx, .xml. Files that are not one of these file types will not be indexed, and so will not be searchable in Granta MI.

Note:
  • Filenames are not indexed, and so will not be searchable.
  • Password-protected files cannot be indexed, and so attempting to add a password-protected file to a File Attribute will result in an indexing error.
